Made in 1938 by the Bavaria Film-Kunst, the film — slated to be a feature-length motion puicture — fell victim to the a governmental order that cancelled most of their science fiction films once the war began. It appears that film’s special effects were filmed before the live action segments as documentary footage of early aviation and rocketry development are used to pad the few live-action scenes actually lensed film to its brief 23 minute running time.
